InitiativesVOICES OF INNOVATION CAMPAIGN: Fall 2007 Innovation is a critical driver of the American spirit and our nation's economic prosperity. Maintaining our innovative edge requires our young people to master the key 21st Century skills and knowledge needed to live and compete in a dynamic global community. An important feature of the Innovation America Foundation will be a visual demonstration of these 21st Century skills - problem solving, creative thinking, reasoning, communication, collaboration, media & technology literacy - and how they apply in the real world. To kick-off these efforts, the Foundation in conjunction with Apple is launching a nationwide campaign called, "Voices of Innovation.” Beginning on October 8, 2007, teams of high school students will be invited to submit 45-second videos at edcommunity.apple.com/innovation showcasing the future of American innovation. Students will be prompted with the following question: "How can you improve your world through innovation?” The top twenty teams will receive iPods and Apple's video production software and be featured on IAF's website, Apple's Student Gallery website, the Apple Learning Interchange and on Apple's iTunes Store via the Podcast directory. Additionally all videos will be available through the Scholastic and the National Governors Association's Web site for teens, the National Academy of Engineering's Web site, and governors' Web sites across the country. Additionally, the top five teams selected by a panel of governors will be invited to present their video spots at an Innovation America Foundation event in the future. To find out more, please visit edcommunity.apple.com/innovation. NATIONAL OUTREACH CAMPAIGN IAF will bring together a coalition of national organizations and U.S.-based international companies in a first-of-its-kind effort to develop a national outreach plan to promote innovation. Through a sustained nationwide movement, this campaign will be designed to provide compelling context for messages on global competitiveness and innovation. This collaboration will pool the extensive outreach capacities of The Advertising Council, Apple, Cisco, The Council on Competitiveness, eBay, The Girl Scouts of USA, Intel, Microsoft, National Academy of Engineering, National Association of Governors, National Science Foundation, PBS, Scholastic, Symantec and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Institute for a Competitive Workforce. |
